"What I've Learned This Year" by Mr. McClung

I have just finished reading the blog by Mr. McClung, "What I've Learned This Year".

I can visualize and hear the excitement of his students. Mr. McClung is young, full of energy, full of wonderful ideals, and a great drive for his students. His students have very young minds and with the excitement of Mr. McClungs' computer teachings, they will have a very good start with the "New World of Learning".

Mr. McClung will continue to keep his students' attention with new ideal, hands on experience and learning. I am somewhat familiar with Noel, Mo, and I believe Mr. McClung will be a great asset to his community.

Fischbowl Blogger

As I was watching the fischbowl.blogspot, I was astonished by some of the information presentated, however, not really surprised. I was somewhat surprised that Great Britan was the number 1 over several important subjects that should be the concern of all americans. I truly am not surprised by the technology that has developed over the last few years.

I recall working in insurance offices with electric typewriters, with carbon paper between pages (with ink all over your fingers) when you attempted to do typing corrections with erasers, without spellcheck, sending carbon copies of the letters out manually, and if you did not review the letter, statements, etc., correctly, they were sent out with errors, how horrible.

I am very concerned that our Representatives, are lagging behind with keeping our schools updated with more modern equipment, computers, etc. I believe every child in America, should have access to a computer in school, hopefully, in their homes.

I am very excited about the future of our society, especially, our young people, who should not have any limitations about their future and the future of our society.

Alabama Connecting Classrooms, Educators, and Students Statewide (ACCESS)

Access connects Alabama classrooms, Educators and Students Statewide (ACCESS) project. It is a distance learning program that uses, interactive video-conferencing technology connecting all teachers with students in different parts of the State of Alabama. ACCESS originally started out with 24 pilot locations in 2006, and has grown to 170+ ACCESS learning labs, including at least one in every county.

This program provides support for
1) educators, improves teacher development, improves quality of school facilities
throughout the state,
2) improves student achievement in reading, math and science, expands the institutions
of learning.

MathType, Grammatical, Discovery Education, HippoCampus, are some some of the software available on ACCESS.

We definitely must continue to go forward with programs such as ACCESS.

I believe every child in our educational systems must have access to computers in the classroom.

ALEX: A world of information

What a wonderful site for educators, parents and anyone who wants to just continue learning. This is a great site for research on Courses of study.
The site will also guides you to additional sites relating to education. I particularly found the sites, www.alabama public tv, and hippocampus extremely beneficial. It is easy access by going to www.alex.state.al.us. There are numerous boxes to click on, math, history, lesson plans, etc, just click and the information is at your fingertips.

I have found the computers to be extremely beneficial to the education of our children and wonderful websites have been established for education. Alex is very important tool to be used by our educators and parents. I believe our educators are more advanced today than in previous years and with resources such as ALEX, they become even more knowledgeable.

Not sure about me in this class

I am excited about learning how to use the computer more and what it has to offer, HOWEVER, I hope that I am not overwhelmed.

I have signed up for 2 classes this summer, but....

I will definitely try my best to keep up.
